Help me remember: online to do lists
Forgetting tasks or assignments? Whatever your current life role(s), one of these five options may suit your needs. With the exception of optional upgrades, all of these online options are free.
- Ta-Da List is the simplest if you only need a manageable To Do list without reminders. Make several lists, re-arrange the tasks and check them off as they’re finished. You can share the list(s) but can not send reminders to yourself.
- Remember the Milk has more options. You can add tags and tabs. Most important, however, is that you can add to the list from anywhere, including your phone. You can get reminders anywhere as well. RTM has a ‘Pro’ upgrade for some functions.
- BackPack has more features and is a bit more complicated to use. Just a note that if you’re typing in the web address, although called “BackPack,” the address is at BackPackIT.com.
- Google’s calendar can be used for a To Do list by entering the tasks without a time — as an ‘all-day’ appointment. The tasks then appear at the top of each day. Gcal will send reminders via email, SMS (Cell phone text messages) or pop-up screen on your computer. Add as many reminders as you like for each entry. P.S. Google calendars can be made public. Create a calendar for work, another for school, another for sports, etc. All three can appear separately or appear all on one calendar, each in a different color.
- And guess what! Pen and paper still work best for some people.
Whatever method you use for tracking your tasks, be sure to back it up.
